I’ve always loved black and white portraiture and I wanted to try and create an art piece in black and white.

Found an inspiration photo and transferred it to my paper using the grid method. Then I painted the whole thing with diluted India Ink, concentrating on defining the highlights and shadows. The collage work on the hair takes a long time. This time instead of tearing the paper, and since I wanted more control over the shape and direction of the hairs, I used an Exacto knife to cut the strands.
